Space Type is an NYC-based studio practice led by Lynne Yun and Kevin Yeh. Operating at the intersection of type and technology, the studio works with individuals and organizations to express unique narratives and connect the seams between calligraphy, type design and digital interaction.

Eduardo Cuesta Mundo

Eduardo Cuesta Mundo

Eduardo is a sign painter from Guadalajara, Mexico. He is the person behind the Rotulación Tradicional (Traditional Sign Painting). Ever since childhood he has been passionate about letterforms, a passion that eventually evolved into a craft. Eduardo is mostly a self-taught artist, having had his first approach to the trade in a workshop that already carried more than 40 years of practice. He has continued to nurture the tradition of sign painting that has been on the verge of extinction in that city.

Giovanni Bautista

Giovanni Bautista

Giovanni Bautista is a Oaxacan graphic designer and a sign painter. He has been in touch with letterforms from an early age through the sign painting trade, a craft of making Mexican popular art that his father had dedicated his life to since 1980, making traditional signs and drawings. Currently, Giovanni directs and executes different projects at the workshop, he has taught Mexican sign painting workshops at the San Agustín Center for the Arts and at the Artes de México publishing house.

Jesús Barrientos

Jesús Barrientos has a certification in type design by the University of Reading (2018), is a research professor at BUAP and a guest researcher at the Scaliger Institute, Leiden University. He has given workshops and conferences at institutions in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, Ireland, Poland and England.

Karla Pasten

Karla Pasten

Karla Pasten (Mixtli) is a graphic designer specializing in lettering, branding, packaging design, illustration and type design. Her love for lettering has led her to be in constant exploration of the letterform’s expressiveness to pushing them to the limit. She was recognized by the Malee Scholarship (for Sharp Type) as “Women of Typographic Excellence” for his achievements and contributions to the industry. She is part of the Times New Woman movement, an initiative to empower Spanish-speaking women interested in letter design.

Ximena Jiménez

Ximena Jiménez

Ximena Jiménez, is a lettering artist and muralist from Cali, Colombia, based in Bogotá, Colombia. She enjoys experimentation, graffiti and large formats, currently moving between formal bases and their deconstruction through textures, inks, aerosols and irregular strokes, always hand in hand with color. She has been invited to paint murals, give workshops and offer talks in the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina and Colombia.

Fabiola Mejía

Fabiola Mejía

Fabiola Mejía is a freelance typeface designer from Costa Rica. In 2017 she attended the Type@Cooper Condensed program in New York and in 2019 she graduated from the master in type design TypeMedia in The Hague, The Netherlands. Fabiola recently founded SUPERCONTINENTE, a platform dedicated to research, experimentation and typographic practice. She collaborates with the Dinamo Typefaces foundry.
