Mini Workshop: What’s New in Glyphs 4 with Rainer Scheichelbauer and Viviana Monsalve
The workshop will be taught primarily in Spanish, but both instructors can provide guidance in English.
In this workshop, we’ll build a minimal multi-axis variable font, export it, and test it. You’ll learn how to:
- Check compatibility and avoid unwanted interpolation
- Configure settings for exporting variable fonts
- Work with custom parameters
- Understand STAT and fvar tables
- Scripts and post-production
- Install and use FontBakery
Requirements:
Bring your MacBook with Glyphs installed. Free trial licenses will be available.
Important: This workshop is free and exclusively available to Letrástica Type Festival 2026 General Pass holders.

Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer, nacido en Viena, estudió fotografía y filosofía. Hoy en día, crea y produce fuentes tipográficas, da clases y talleres de diseño de tipografía. Rainer se unió al equipo de Glyphs en 2012, y ha colaborado con scripts y tutoriales, así como el manual. Recientemente inició su estudio tipográfico, Schriftlabor, con otros tres diseñadores en Viena.
Viviana Monsalve
Colombia
Viviana Monsalve is a Colombian graphic designer who graduated from the National University of Colombia, with postgraduate studies in Digital and Typographic Design at the University of Buenos Aires. After working in design studios in Colombia and Argentina, being part of communication teams in public and private companies, and teaching undergraduate typography courses, Monsalve now works as an independent graphic and type designer.
Her interest in typography comes from understanding it as a technology, one with the power to make written culture more accessible and functional for a broader audience. Recently, Monsalve has become more involved in font production, contributing mainly to the font project onboarding process at Google Fonts.
