Call for the Collective Exhibition of Letrastica 5
Letrastica Festival is opening the call for the collective exhibition at Letrástica 5, to be held in October 2024 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
We invite interested individuals to submit representative samples of their work in type design, lettering, sign painting, calligraphy, or any other form of letter design under the following conditions for participation:
- Submitted works may consist of alphabets, isolated glyphs, typographic specimens, calligraphic compositions, letterform experiments, signs, lettering pieces, letterpress prints, or any other form of letter design.
- For unpublished works, we suggest using the theme "Letras para todxs / Type For All."
- The works will be presented on a sheet measuring 60 cm wide by 80 cm long, as digital files for printing.
- Printing will be handled by the festival's organization.
- Each participant must submit their posters in PDF format in CMYK color mode.
- For bitmap images, the optimal resolution for printing must be considered.
- The festival organizing team will select around 35 pieces from the submitted posters to determine which will be printed and exhibited at the festival venue. The selection will be based on quality and originality but also on diversity, representation, and inclusion.
- Each individual or collective may submit up to two different pieces. If there are works that involve direct printing in a non-digital format (for example, letterpress printing) or original work, the organizing team must be contacted to agree on the possibility and conditions for their inclusion in the exhibition. The festival does not provide insurance against damage to original works.
- Participants agree to submit only works of their own authorship or, in the case of co-authored or derivative works, must include the respective additional credits and have the authorization of other co-authors.
- By submitting proposals, participants consent to their work being exhibited at the festival and in traveling exhibitions organized by Letrástica, understanding that these will always be for non-profit, educational purposes, with proper credit given to each piece.
- Upon the conclusion of the scheduled exhibitions, the complete exhibition (except for pieces that are unique and non-reproducible) will remain in the permanent collection of Letrástica and the School of Design at Anáhuac University Veracruz.
- The festival organization is committed to preserving the works, maintaining their integrity, and preventing any unauthorized use. The posters may be included in a digital catalog for consultation through the festival's channels and repositories. All participants whose works are selected will receive a certificate of participation from the organizing committee.
To participate in the selection, the digital file must be sent to expo@letrastica.com with the following information:
- Name of the individual or collective (as it should appear on labels and credits) and, if applicable, additional or co-author credits
- Nationality/Place of residence
- Email or phone number for contact
- Link to personal website, portfolio, and social media
- Title of the submitted piece
- Brief description of the work
The deadline for submission is September 30, 2024, and the selection results will be announced on Letrástica Festival's social media by October 7 at the latest. Only submissions that include all the required information, including the digital image, and are received within the specified deadline, will be considered for selection.
*This call for submissions is subject to minor changes, which will only be communicated to participants who have submitted a request.
